Ruth 1:16. 16 But Ruth said:

“Entreat me not to leave you or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.

What an amazing answer! Ruth wanted Naomi to stay with her own people, but Naomi requested to stay with Ruth, even accepting God as her own! Naomi was a destitute Moabite widow when we first met her; Ruth tells the story of how this woman went from destitute to one of God’s chosen people! She follows Ruth’s directions, gleans in the fields, lays herself at Boaz’s feet, risking her very reputation! What a beautiful picture of how we come to Christ—empty, without hope, rebellious, alien, without any part in the kingdom of God; then we risk everything by putting our faith, our hope, in Jesus Christ, and then God transforms us, He saves us, He forgives us, rebuilds our lives, and gives us blessings that last beyond time, into eternity! Boaz’s redeeming of Ruth is a picture of how Christ redeems us.
